Academic background

Mr Paul Ainsworth qualified from Leeds University in 1998. He has undertaken extensive training in general and colorectal surgery in the Mersey Deanery. He obtained FRCS in 2012 and has completed his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2014. He has also completed a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and attended laparoscopic training courses in the UK and Germany.

Mr Ainsworth has published articles in Colorectal Disease, European Journal of Cancer, European Journal of Surgical Oncology and the Annals of Vascular Surgery.

Mr Ainsworth is the Clinical Director for Surgery at his NHS base in Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. He is interested in clinical audit and clinical improvement strategies.
