Renacres Hospital raises thousands for Queenscourt Hospice
Wednesday 21 March 2018
Renacres Hospital with the support of patients, staff, GPs, local businesses and the general public has raised over 11k for local charity, Queenscourt Hospice.
The independent hospital which provides high quality healthcare to NHS, private and insured patients in Halsall, near Ormskirk organised a series of events and charity raffles throughout 2017 exceeding the money raised in 2016 for North West Air Ambulance.
In March last year, over 170 ladies from across Ormskirk and the surrounding area attended Ormskirk’s fashionista sell out event, Fashion for Compassion and gave generously to raise £4,500.
Staff, consultants and patients were treated to a week of birthday celebrations in July which culminated with staff, consultants, GPs and local businesses swapping their suits and scrubs for black tie and enjoyed a full-filled evening at Renacres anniversary ball to mark the hospital’s 30th anniversary and managed to raise £5,200.
Renacres also sponsored a local charity event at Southport Old Links Golf Club in September by entering two teams of GPs and consultants who went head to head with 90 local golfers.
Wendy Williams, GP Liaison Officer at Renacres Hospital who organised the fundraising events and activities, said:
“On behalf of Renacres Hospital, I would like to thank all those who have supported our fundraising efforts. Without your support, our cheque to Queenscourt Hospice would not have been possible. A sincere thank you to all local businesses who have assisted us throughout the year offering their time, services and donations.
“Thanks to those in the local area, we are delighted to announce that we have raised whopping £11,646 for our Charity of the Year. Renacres Hospital is committed to charitable giving and I am so proud of what we have achieved.”
Lucy Smith, Community Fundraiser at Queenscourt Hospice who came to collect the money raised, said:
“The staff at Renacres Hospital have been wonderful supporters to Queenscourt Hospice for many years. We were delighted to be chosen as their charity for 2017 and delighted even further to learn of the magnificent amount raised! A lot of hard work and enthusiasm was dedicated to this fundraising, for which we are sincerely grateful.
“As a local charity, every penny raised will make a positive difference to the lives of people within our own community, helping us to provide specialist care and support to all those who need it. On behalf of all patients, volunteers and staff at Queenscourt, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this superb donation possible.”
Renacres new charity for 2018 is local charity Incubabies, a charity which has been set up to fundraise for a new extension of the Children's Intensive Care Unit within the Neonatal Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital. There current unit now cares for babies from a much wider area than ever before, therefore the demand for their services is increasing.
